The Weekend DMC.

[wpvideo 9g5wrTh2]

You Could Be Happy.

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoAPw-eJuYo]

I play this song all the time in my yoga classes. It’s by by friends in the band Snow Patrol, who incidentally make me very happy. (Remember last year they donated a guitar signed by all the band members for my GAMEYoga.org fundraiser? For no other reason than just to be nice!)

I think this song is just a beautiful reminder of those 4 magic words: You Could Be Happy.

(Yes, you!)

I dare you.

This weekend’s DMC is about being happy.

In every moment there is a choice.

To be happy or not. And here’s the deal. For those of  you that feel that you don’t deserve to be happy, for whatever reason, I am here to tell you: That is BS. You do! You deserve be happy.

And you shall.

And so it is.

How?

By doing things that make you happy. By doing things and being with people that make you feel good.

Are you ready for the ride?

In the comment section below please list all the things that make you happy.

“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.” Wayne Dyer of course.

And again by him: You cannot get sad enough to make another person happy.

So go on. Get happy and tell us how you got there.

Happiness is the way, Manifesters.

The only way.

Manifest Your Life,

One Laugh at a Time,

Jen (@manifestyogajen on twitter)

PS, My list is long but would start like this….

My happy list: skyping with nephews, watching movies with my husband, having a nice glass of red, a big belly laugh, Modern Family, Snow Patrol, Annie Carpenter’s yoga Class, dancing, when my yoga classes sing and dance, sleeping in, teaching the kinds with special needs yoga, writing, this blog, The Good Wife, getting letters in the mail, giving gifts, photographs, hats, bright sneakers, massages, candles and fireplaces, and on and on.

Your turn.

Creating makes me happy. I’ve been sewing xmas presents all week and with every stitch (and so many restitches, lol) I feel connected to the person (my nieces and nephews right now) that I’m sewing for (in this case the most epically amazing superhero capes ever). Writing, scrapbooking, making music – I love to make things because it connects me to the world and those I create for. What a beautiful post and song, thank you.

What makes me happy: Growing things in my garden, snuggling with my boyfriend, teaching yoga, doing handstands, looking at anatomy books, getting my bedroom the perfect temperature for bedtime, eating fresh fruit, the smell of cilantro, the sound of my mom’s voice when she answers the phone…my goodness this is fun…

Lots to be happy and joyful about:
House full with loved ones, crawling into a cozy bed after a long day, walking hand in hand with my husband, wiggling my toes in the sand, smelling freshly cut grass, sitting by the river, taking that first sip of morning coffee, snuggling with our daughters, laughing so hard that tears roll down my face & I can barely breathe, writing in my journal & blog, meeting new people, having coffee & long conversations with friends, singing along to songs I don’t know the words for, the smell of things baking, making order and beauty out of chaos & clutter, intense colors and the list goes on and on…

Nice to know someone else that appreciates the daily joys that life offers us. They are always there if we allow ourselves the time to pause long enough to embrace and acknowledge them. Thank you, Jen for prompting me to think about the list.

The bike ride I just took made me happy. The fresh air, the fall leaves and their beautiful colors.
My cats who were waiting for me on my porch when I got home.
And the one who just brushed against my leg.
My sister and sister in law who made me cry on Thanksgiving when they told me I will find love as soon as I open my heart to it.

I got here by paying attention to the fact happiness is always always always in me. I noticed it has never ever come from outside me. This simple observation means to me that my happiness exists as I exist. It’s not something I can be, do or have. It also means to me that what other’s think, do or say has nothing to do with my happiness… unless I buy into it. If I doubt I am worthy of feeling happiness, I won’t feel it. Beneath all this is the choice of a meaningful, purposeful life, doing something to make a contribution to orhers

My happy list: listening to my grandfather tell stories, looking at old family photos, laughing till it hurts, seeing old friends, finding something I’ve lost, eating & drinking with loved ones, Christmas trees, laughing Buddha, Yoga, making things, watching my sister dance, daydreaming, driving with the windows down, VINO, mail, family possessions, my dogs (& any animal for that matter), charities, survivors, dreamers, & ambition.

JLP’S Happy list looks like this…. Not all that long ago I realized that I control my happiness. No person or thing controls my happiness. Once I started to believe and trust this everything in my life started to bring me joy. So here’s the list of things that add to my happiness. My dog Timber, he’s old and blind and the best dog ever. Doing what I love for a living, my family & friends. Teaching yoga, creating kick ass playlists for class, inspiring people and being inspired. I can go on and on, but I will leave you with this….
In the words of Yogi yogi Bhajan “Make yourself so happy, so when other people look at you they become happy too”
