Finding Stillness In Motion since 2011

Events & Opportunities

What began with live workshops and retreats has grown into something bigger — a literary community where the events happen on the page, in open calls for work, and in the ongoing conversation between writers and readers who find each other here.

The Manifest Station started in 2012 alongside gatherings that explored writing, vulnerability, and what it means to be human. Those rooms planted the seeds for something that kept growing long after the last retreat ended: a magazine built around the belief that personal stories matter.

Today, The Manifest Station has published more than 2,200 essays, memoirs, and poems. Our events have evolved, too — into submission windows, themed editorial projects, and a community of readers and writers who show up for each other.

Current Opportunities

Submissions

We publish personal essays, memoir, and poetry on healing, grief, relationships, courage, family, and inspiration. When submission windows are open, find our calls and guidelines on Submittable and Chill Subs. We read everything. We respond to everything.

Themed Calls & Editorial Projects

Throughout the year we publish themed collections — seasonal calls for work, year-in-review anthologies, and contributor spotlights. Past themes have included writing through illness, letters to our younger selves, and the stories we carry from the places we've lived.

Community & Reading

This has always been the real event — the moment a reader finds an essay that says the thing they couldn't say themselves. We're here for that, every day.
